After the lovely resort of Krabi we took a minibus to Khao Sok NP for a sleepover in the jungle. We shared a bamboo hut with 100's of creepy crawlies, load crikets and frogs (Andy lept out of his skin when he saw a giant millipeed). Our attempts at a night safari ended up being a washout and we returned to the bar we'd left 5 minutes earlier drenched to the bone.
The next day we went elephant treking through the jungle although the elephant did'nt like walking through the puddles. On the way back Andy rode on the elephant's neck which proved how strong and well trained they are!
We took more buses via Surat Thani and Hat Yai and ended up in Pee-nang (proper pronounciation) which is an old colonial style town with mainly Indian and Chinese. The Oriental hotel was close to a mosque which boomed an early morning call to prayer every morning.
We did the tourist bit: a trishaw ride and a day trip to Pulau Payar (island just off Langkawi). We swam with Black Tip Reef sharks and a huge barracuda - the latter being more frightening than the former.
We are in the Cameron Highlands now where it is much cooler (thank god!) As we've started to get fed up with Chinese food we indulged in apple pies and cream teas - bloody gorgeous too.
