Hi again so soon!

Lima is a pretty boring city, not to be disrespectful to any Peruvians who may read our travelogues. Perhaps it's just having spent time in Rio and the comparison is too great as well as having Rio withdrawal symptoms, but we took a trip into the city centre today and only managed to spend about an hour. What we did see was pretty - lots of colonial buildings and a really gorgeous grand cathedral, but there was just a lack of interesting anything there!

On top of that we got consistently pestered by the street everythings - sweet sellers, shoe polishers, postcard sellers, taxi men, beggars, busy bodies, every Tom Dick and Harry in Lima and a man who was selling spongey Sponge Bob Square Pants - literally a cut-off piece of yellow sponge with a sticker of Sponge Bob's face, must admit we did get entertainment from it! There was a really nice religious procession there, though, with Peruvian traditional dress, which was nice to see, but on the whole, pretty boring.

Tomorrow we start our Machu Picchu tour with a transfer to Cusco where'll we start the trek into the mountains. It's going to be such a great experience doing this and Machu Picchu is so fascinating and mystical up in the clouds, we'll tell you all about it soon...
