Next we stopped in the Transkei. This felt much more like Botswana or Namibia as there where a lot of Xhosa people and not very many white people. We stayed with a bunch of hippies in a commune(a hostel really) all the stray dogs of the world were there too. Our room had the bed built into the wall and was made of mud! We did some more hiking, some more drinking and some kayaking. (Its funny how the only 2 times we've met Irish people on our way they got us drunk!)

We stopped by in Durban for andy to see a chiropracter, get a parking fine and get lost and drive into a township as nighttime neared-woops. We headed up to stLucia National park for some hippo and croc watching. (again with the chance of being crushed at night by hippos-fantastic)

After that we drove to the Drakensberg mountains. We stayed ina place called the Amphitheatre named so because its surrounded by mountains. We met a couple of Canadian guys and hung out with them for a couple of days. Did some more hiking and got accosted by the largest baboon alive ever. Unfortuatnely we were too afraid and busy running away to take any pictures.

That pretty much brings us back to Pretoria. We've had a great trip so far. Southern Africa is really beautiful but we can't help but get a little bit of a bad feeling about the place in light of the social inequalities and the visible hatred between the races.
Having said that we really have enjoyed our time here.
Off to China!
