We ventured out to hire a Scooter for the day to head off to Galle and beyond! It was about a 20 minute ride along the coast.
Galle is like moving to Europe! It was amazing; in the old town it has a huge fort built around it by the Dutch in the 1600's all the buildings etc were very European. Really cute town.
We then took a ride further down the coast to Unawatuna, Dalawella, Habaraduwa, Koggala, Ahangama & Matara. Truly amazing coast line!!
On the way home however we had a little run in with the law. We were pulled over for speeding straight after a huge truck and a few other cars and scooters had over taken us. Clearly just seeing the foreigners and thinking pay day was here! Once Andy showed him his Australian license the problem changed from the speeding to the fact he didn't have a Sri Lankan license. He was clearly just after cash! I was not having it, poor Andy was getting stressed with me. I was arguing with him, the original "fine" he asked for was 2500 rupee - $25, we said no he immediately went down to $2000 saying it would be more if we got an actual fine! We ended up getting him down to 1000 rupee and giving in so we could get going we paid him!!
