Hi Everybody,

No I didnīt vanish off the face of earth but I have arrived in Lima, Peru safe and sound.  Being able to get here is another story a touch of luck I guess.

I flight from LAX to Atlanta then Lima on Delta airline turned out to be more than I bargained for.  As you are all aware of the crazy gas prices in US that result in the airline industry to cut cost by cutting flights salary benefits etc. Because of this my original flight was oversold and I was transferred from 610 am flight to 715am flight to Atlanta. However, for the 715 am flight, the pilots were on strike and decided not to come to work. The flight was delayed to 815 am then 915 am then 12 pm. Wow, this means I am going to miss my connecting flight to Lima from Atlanta. People at the terminal were extremely frustrated some got mad and were cursing and some were stcuk at LAX for days. I remained calm since worst comes to worst, I am stuck at HOME, I can just go back to my office and work :( . I asked the check in counter person in a very nice manner to see then can possibily transfer my ticket to Lan airline since they are the only airline that flies direct. The counter person , Carlos told me to goto the Lan airline counter at Terminal 3 and try to get a standby seat. He also promised me he will transfer the ticket over. I walked over to terminal 3 from terminal 6 and the Lan clerk told me my e-ticket number was invalid. Thus I asked her to call Delta and the number I was given was off by one digit. She was then able to put me on standby on a supposely full flight to Lima. She also told me in case there are no room available, I can trythe 605 flight which is 30 minutes later. Delta did compensate me by giving me a $7 lunch voucher, whatever.  I  didnīt upset at all this situation, just thought to myself, I will be lucky if I can even get on the LAN flight.  Fortunately, after I arrived at the LAN gate, the clerk was able to get me on the first flight to Lima, what luck !!!! I am all smiles  :D  Good thing is I DONīT have to goto Atlanta or Houston as the strike situation worsens, whole lot of people are getting stranded in airports. For those of you traveling domestically with transfer flight beware!!!!!  Bring a thick novel.

The flight to Lima was unevenful, it took about 8.5 hours. Too bad this plane has no personal screen and entertainment system with games etc like my last flight to Santiago. Good thing I got my I-Pod to keep me busy.

I arrive at Lima around 115 am local time ( Lima is 2 hours ahead of LA, same time zone as Chicago). Getting out of the airport I had to squeeze pass hundreds of locals who are hanging out trying to pick up some business from the tourists. Luckly my packaged tour hired someone to pick me up so I avoided all the crazy taxi drivers. By the time I arrive at the hotel is 130 am I finally went to bed at 2 am.  Very tired.
