29th - Another day in Marrakesh, shopping by day and food stalls by night. Tamlyn, Kira and Elyse bought 2 tortoises - Mohammed Tajine and Fattima Couscous.
30th - Left for Essaouira on the coast, spent a little while shopping in the Medina for tonight's meal. Bush camped on the beach south of the city/town.
Dist cov. = 222 km
31st - Travelled to Agadir via Taghazout to get lunch and restock the truck at the last Marjane we could find. Most people went to have lunch at "The British Pub", last proper western meal not cooked by the group for some time. Bushcamped somewhere on the road from Tiznit to Goulimime.
Dist cov. = 334 km
Total dist cov. = 2058 km
1st April - Went through Tan Tan, and the start of our police stops through the day, had lunch at Tan Tan Plage. Tan Tan had 2 large camels either side of the road as an entrance. Passed Tarfaya and entered the area known as Western Sahara to bushcamp near the border, good walking distance to a couple of dunes and watched the sunset.
Dist cov. = 429 km
2nd - Went through Laayoune, had hot showers for 10DH (~1euro), which was nice after being sandblasted the night before. A very good bush camp, could see lots of stars and the area was well lit by the half moon. Ron herded some camels towards the truck and managed to get them within 100m before some local popped up claiming they were his.
Dist. cov.= 313 km
3rd - Another long drive day, 1st puncture of front right tyre delaying our journey to the border. Stopped in Dakhla for lunch, cook group managed to buy some camel meat. Had the usual photo stop needed for crossing the Tropic of Cancer. 2nd windy bushcamp in a row, and Lene was the first member to require stitches..lucky we have a doctor on this leg of the trip.
Dist. cov. = 455 km
4th - Headed to the border stopping off to top up with fuel and spend any last Dirham coins. Took 3hrs to clear the Moroccan side of the border, stopping twice within 20m of 2 border officials who wanted to check our passports. Crossed no mans land, about 3km long, with blown up cars (still has mines around it) and guides standing on the roadside.
Dist cov. = 252 km
