Well winter arrived today with our first snowfall. The snowstorm dumped about 20cms of snow although we had really strong winds which meant we had drifting. The temperature was -3 most of the day although the windchill meant it felt like -7.

Because the storm arrived in the morning and snow was forecast for most of the day schools were closed so Ellen and Greg stayed at home.

We're really glad it snowed as the ski resorts around us had had no snow and we want to go sking!!!!!

Ellen and Greg had a great time playing with the rest of the kids in the snow, sledging in the back garden and then skiing down the slope from a neighbours house. They really did enjoy it outside and actually it didn't feel that cold with our winter boots and clothing on.

As the dumping of snow was alot I had my first experience of clearing snow from the drive which was OK and not too bad at the time.  However this morning I had to clear all the snow again of about 20cms and was shattered most of the day!!!!.

We are forecasted to have some more cold nights in next few days which is what we need as our neighbours have built an ice rink in their garden.  We need some cold weather to freeze the water and hopefully by the weekend we can go skating!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how that snow brings back memories of my childhood when we had snow every winter and built a snowman and had snowball fights. Brings back memories of my visit to Ontario November 1969 - my goodness 40 years ago!! Well now you are experiencing the real Canadian winter - have fun and enjoy.
