We arrived around 2.00pm and found a camp site in Anaheim (5mins away from Disney). It was $55 a night so we checked the price of the Holiday Inn and because they have a promotion at the moment (stay 2 nights get one free) it only worked out $10 more to stay in the Hotel so we went for the luxury !!!.  We booked in for 5 nights and then drove to Santa Monica where Baywatch was filmed.  We didn't see any lifeguards in action only a large crowd of people started coming towards us with pink and white Hawaiian garlands around their necks and people were handing out single carnations.  About 10 men in kayaks went out to sea and one women and child.  They then made a circle at sea and everyone at the shore threw their carnations in.  We chatted to a lady on the beach and she explained that it was a funeral of a young man that worked in one of the local hotels.  Afterwards we drove to Venice Beach and then back to the Hotel.  The following day we went to Disney’s California Park.  It’s a lovely park and seemed to have a more relaxed atmosphere than Florida!  We did all the rides including Soarin’ which takes you up on a glider over the most impressive scenery in California.  It was excellent! We saw Mickey and his pals again and even managed to get another art class in for Ellen.  This time we all sketched Goofy!!!

We're off to Newport Beach tomorrow.
