We made it to Panama City last night, after a few delays. Our plane trips took us across the US, into every time zone, before leaving. There was a chance our plane would get diverted to Ontario instead of LA, and Andrew scored a free bottle of wine for offering space with J.W. for a ride between the airports. Didn´t turn out necessary. Dallas has a very good airport, but Miami´s might as well be a refugee space. Dirty Dirty and full of Cruisers. Our plane was delayed there a few hours, but was fine. We flew over Cuba, and I think Andrew wanted to parachute out.
Even though we were several hours late, our hotel shuttle was there to pick us up, a real score in the hot humid weather. Our hotel room at the Hotel Residencial Texas is small, but seems to be very clean, and it has a TV and phone and A/C, all rarities at the hotels we stayed at in Mexico.
We went to the Miraflores Locks on the Panama Canal today. It was interesting, but there were WAY too many nasty Americans. We caught a taxi back to the city with two lovely Germans.
We´re heading out tomorrow morning for Boquete, which we hope is less hot and smelly (exhaust is horrible).
Food notes: we´ve had excellent sandwiches (jacque ate meat!)containing pork, chivito, etc. We have drank the water (purportedly safe here), and eaten lettuce and tomatoes. We also had melon and peach juices. Yummy.
We aren´t missing the snow yet.

Hola Amigos ;)
Como Esta? Sounds like your flights were hectic, but now you can explore the damp, humid, hot roads, jungles, and swamps of Panama. BTW, can you swing by the Banco Nacional de Panama for me? A couple of my columbian buddies left some dinero in a safety deposit box ;) Hope its still there (kidding). Well keep me up to date. I will watch your northern progress eagerly. Lates, PT
