Well, we woke up drunk, we hadnt managed to open the door last night in the dark and our host had been greeted by two drunks on our hands and knees trying to get the key in the door. It was early and everyone was still asleep in the house on chairs and the floor. We left a big pile of money in both currencies and our final gifts we could find in our bags and headed off to the airport. We walked to the main square and negotiated with a few taxi drivers, as usual in places we are sad to leave we had a bit of craic with the driver which resulted in all three of us singing along to Phil Collins at 9am.

We checked in for our flight and after trying to sneak through twice without paying the airport tax Lady E deemed it impossible which frustratingly meant we had to go and use an ATM due to the fact we had given all our money away (and it was quite a lot certainly by Cuban standards).
We pulled up on a pew at a freezing cold airport and waited for another old Soviet banger to come tumbling out of the sky. Our fellow passengers all seem to have also loved Cuba but I think had had a fairly different experience, none the less it made for an interesting journey (not surpisingly Lady E slept most of the way), if you ever fly Cubana make sure you dont get the back row, if you are anywhere over 5 feet 8 you wont fit in the seat and everyone has to swap, its quite funny. Perhaps the best bit of the trip and most entertaining bit of any flight was when the airconditioning units under the seat started pumping out a white type of smoke, with Erica asleep I had a major moment of panick shouting "fire fire" and patting her bag and trying to put it out, she woke up and people were shouting "fire" on the plane, I felt like a right plonker when it turned out to be something connected to the airconditioning unit.

We landed back in Cancun which you probably have to say felt a bit like Thailand after returning from Burma, it is so rich and modern and heaving with American tourists. We were negotiating with the collectivos and when one asked if we were on our honeymoon I instantly responded "yes" (looking for a reduction) whilst at exactly the same time Erica responded "No" neither us nor the collectivo guy could stop laughing for about 30 seconds. We ended up paying up as opposed to the long bus route and set off in search of our accommodation. This was the third time I think Erica had booked our accommodation, when we got dropped off it turned out to be a 5* hotel built in a contemporary style.... I never bloody learn, but then again while Im blogging all the time we have internet now she just surfs around looking at god knows what.... well now I know 5* hotels. To be fair we had already agreed we would try and find somehwere with a pool but I didnt expect this!  It was however a steal online so we booked it anyway.  A little bit of luxury for our final few days.

After a prolonged check in we found our king sized bed with sea and pool view (this upgrade was free due to the messing about and my short temper due to last nights drinking). We found some beds near the pool, an infinity pool looking out over the Caribbean sea no less, and lay and did nothing. When we lost the sun at about 3pm we went for a lie down and watched some tv which about 4 channels were in English.  Hey hey.  The hotel has a few restaurants including a sushi bar which we are trying not to go to as it is much more expensive than the other restaurants.  We had dinner in the International one and plumped for a started each of shrimp tacos with the free water - well all we really wanted was a pool and a nice comfortable room to relax in before we go home and cant afford another holiday for the next decade!  We even got a complimentary champagne at the "sunset bar" where you can watch the sunset with a glass of bubbly and free cakes - we even got cakes in our room to welcome us!!!

The blogs will get quite a bit shorter now as we are planning to do nothing for a few days, I'm trying to smash out about 8 days of catch up and Im getting bored and want to go and buy a bottle of tequila and get drunk.
