We were up at 4:30.... the joys of travelling eh, back to the airport (and yes we got the right one this time) and checked in for the flight. Back to the office where I declared we had spent 40 peso each on dinner but hadnt got a receipt because of 'language difficulties', Will and Jo now have a firm grip on just how embarrasing I can be. Quite rightly they told us to sod off but I blagged a breakfast voucher for coffee and croissants. Will nearly missed the flight and was the last one on the plane due to a badly timed spot of diahorrea, the joys of travelling mark two.

The three hour flight passed quickly and again I fell straight to sleep. Erica and I both had window seats on the same row so only had 4 people between us, how odd. We finally landed in Salta 24 hours late got our luggage and jumped the bus into town. Our hostel is one block off the main square (hence its name 'del centro') so after finding our 2 bed dorm we got out and started exploring the city.  Well we only seemed to get as far as the main square.

The main square is gorgeous and has museums and churches surrounding it, it probably only takes a couple of hours to explore the whole city but in the end we found a couple of chairs at the cheapest place on the square and had a few empanada's, a litre of salta beer and a litre of wine. (whilst sounding excessive the litre of wine cost less than 2 so it was rude not to).

After a quick gallery / museum of the history of Salta (containing lots of early cars, carriages and funeral wagons) we headed off for a quick siesta.  One of the musuems here has mummies of sacrifices made many years ago of teenage girls.... which is nice. No photo's in museums here though which is a shame.

Will and Jo had e-mailed and given us details to meet them that evening, guess what.... we went straight back to the 2 per litre place and had some bizarre local dishes corn and cheese steamed in corn leaves (humita's) and a few empanadas with spicy tomato salsa, the total bill was peanuts considering how much white wine we drank. We wandered back to our hostel to show the guys and ended up joining a big group and drinking beers from the offie until about 1am (again 1 per litre bottle of 5.7% swig is pretty good in my eyes).
