Where I stayed

I'm back we have fallen over a week behind again after asking the lady to do a day of blogging. It is starting to wear us down. So for the seven days prior and seven or eight days after this blog they havent even been skim re-read.... if you catch my drift. Point proven

We woke at about 7am to find our 'downloading’ session hadn’t gone well. Then had breakfast on the porch of fried eggs on toast with fruit and tea (I don’t know what we are going to do when we get home without a porch to have breako on we are getting quite accustomed to it). We decided to splash out literally and head to the water park called Waterbom – the largest it Bali which just so happens to be about a fifteen minute walk from where we are staying. When you’re trying to spend no money it often falls to the wayside and you end up drinking which isn’t all that cheap in Indonesia. We arrived shortly after opening time around 9.15am to ensure we got full value and probably forked out the whole daily budget (accommodation included) on our entry fee. As the park was still empty we probably did every ride in the first 45 minutes. We started on the Boomerang which had a big drop sent you up a almost vertical slope before coming back down backwards in a duo rubber tube over a hill and into a pool below. I think weight really matters on this one and despite Dil’s comment "it looks like you have shit out half your body weight" I’ve still got it where it matters. We managed to go higher than any of the tubsters from Australia or Indonesia and for a scary moment thought we were going over the top to certain death.  Next we tried the Superbowl which again was on the double tube but much, much faster you ended up in a huge bowl spinning round like a plug hole until you were sucked in to another tube backwards and out towards the end, it was going to be a fun day. We then spent most of the rest of the day just charging around like little kids going on every ride about 8 times.

At lunch we managed to argue a pass out so we could find cheaper food elsewhere and ended up having a quick wander around the big shopping centre in Kuta. We also found an arcade which had my favourite basketball game. All the fun of the fair for about 6 pence a go.

Heading back into the waterpark we were soon doing all the rides again but really starting to feel the pain of the constant climbing. We ended up leaving at about 17:00 hardly able to walk. As today was our 6 month anniversary of travelling we decided to head out for a few beers and get an early night before our early flight the next day we booked our taxi for 05:30 and went to find a cheap bar.

As part of our tour round we managed our final Asian book swap with a lady who looked like we had robbed her still a three for three swap with another 2 in cash seemed reasonable to me for both sides, she had said we were her only clients of the day, oh and we promised her we would exchange the books back with her if we managed to finished them (note the if!!) before we left Bali.

At our final stop we ended up sitting with an Australian couple from Perth who we ended up chatting to for a little while longer than we ought to have. We were getting along great until the owner of the bar suggested it was closing time. “Closing time........” bloody hell how much have we drank and how long have we been here. As it turned out Stuart and Carol picked up the tab for all our drinks as well which they only informed us as they were leaving. Such a kind and generous thing to do, which added to a load on information about things to do in Aus. So all in all a great night, we wandered back to Fat Yogi’s and Erica rang her mum, staying on the phone until almost 2am our time. We were horribly tired.

Dil on

That sounds like the best waterpark day ever. Being that it is now below freezing here I would kill for that. Can't believe i've fallen so behind on your blog, at least this insomnia should help me catch up! Hope you're coping with the quakes in NZ ok at the moment too.
