We woke late and were grateful for the lack of natural light in our room. I think windows in bedrooms should be banned they really are quite pointless except they let in evil light that wakes you up as well as more sound. We met Rorie and Emer before setting off for a city tour of Georgetown. We walked around the city taking in the ethnic and religious diversity, but we saw more Mosques today than the rest of our trip put together we also saw lots of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians. We walked around the docks, climbed the lighthouse (well Rorie and I did) walked around Fort Cornwallis, visited City Hall and Town Hall (as well as an exhibition on past governers that Lady E wanted to see – we were all bored senseless but don't tell Erica that).

Erica edit:  Hey it was interesting and part of the cultural expo that Georgetown are celebrating at the moment - not to mention it was free Andrew.

Outside the Town Hall we watched a grand prix of little motorbikes with full size people on them which was great. The town did however seem a little dead but it was a Sunday after all. We also walked in to Little India with all the sari shops and booming bollywood music it was very frenetic. Also we still could not get any cash and I started to lose my rag as we had to keep on being bailed out by Rorie and Emer, needless to say though over the time we have known them we have both built up good lines of credit with each other.

We finished off the day tour by visiting the shopping centre, its huge, which was the worst designed / set out shopping centre I have ever been in (Erica Edit – Even worse than the Manchester Arndale). We had a curry and rice for about 1.40 which was beautiful and I also had a coke float, I think it was my first ever and I’m still not sure if I was supposed to let the ice cream melt or not.

We went back to the hostel and after stripping naked I phoned the bank using Skype to give them a right royal telling off however the knock at the door had me hiding straight away it turned out to be the woman from the hotel with Rorie and Emer wanting to collect the bag they had left with us. Thank goodness Erica didn’t let them in. Anyway cash card is working again and we also got chance to Skype Mike and Carleen which was nice after 5 months of not speaking to them.

We then headed off to the bar to have a quiet drink and catch up. We went to the same bar as the night previous as we knew it would show the Grand Prix and had a combination of large Skol, large Jaz (which gave you a free chance to win money) and large Tiger. We shared a roast pork fried rice which was lovely, before heading across to the local reggae bar. After a quick negotiation we got some free drinks for the girls before I noticed the sign that made clear no one with guns, hyperdermic needles, ties or mink coats could come in. I therefore asked the chap in charge if my friend from the hostel who had a gun in his pocket, was diabetic and was dressed in a fur coat with a tie could come and sit with us if he stayed outside. Oddly the man said yes of course before becoming quite animated that he wanted to buy a gun and could we get him one. We were all in stitches but I guess you had to be there.

We then decided it was too expensive and headed back to first bar to continue our boozing. It ended up being about 2am by the time we got to bed and we avoided the karaoke bar next door to our hostel but could hear every attempt through the wall.
