Amazingly Andrew and I made it up in time for breakfast and were eager to get on to the internet to find out all the election news.  Emer on the other hand felt dreadful and was horrified at the dregs left in the vodka bottle.  She'd single handedly managed to drink most of the bottle (craftily smuggled in to the bar in a Sprite can).  Rorie similarly was also feeling a bit rough, and when you've got to go, you've got to go, and hence we ended up leaving for our train a little later than originally planned.  We were still on the metro on our way to the train station with 10 minutes to go, it would be fair to say that we were cutting it fine.

Arriving at the train station we literally had 3 minutes to find the platform and then get to the train and get on it.  We had to make a fast dash for it which considering the state of us all, with 4 ruck sacks and 3 day sacks, was not the most appealing prospect.  Of course the platform was the furthest from the entrance so we legged it over with the guard telling us to "go, go, go" and of course our carriage was the furthest up the platform.  We just ended up flinging ourselves on to the train and made it to our seats just as the train began to leave.  We probably had a good 15 seconds to spare, not something I want to repeat over the course of the next 9 months.
A fairly uneventful train journey, everyone slept except Andrew, however he did get one lookalikey.

After getting off the train we had to queue in an underground taxi rank constantly being pestered  by illegal drivers but we eventually got a taxi to the east bus station (about 40 minutes driving through skyscrapers, unreal). We bought tickets for the next bus which was in about 20 minutes time and started the 3.5 hour journey to Huangshou. Again everyone slept while Andrew watched the worst Chinese films you have ever seen.  Seems to be becoming a tradition.

We arrived at the youth hostel dumped the bags and took a stroll around the really quaint traditional village.  It was a roastingly hot day and we noticed that all the scooters even had umberella holders (obviously for the sun and the rain).  After such a long and stressful day we decided to go and get something to eat.

We talked Rorie and Emer into being a bit more adventerous and we went to a lovely restaraunt with the usual interesting menu. We nearly ordered a whole chicken in a pot but the team were put off that the head would still be in the pot too. Everyone ordered something farily ordinary except the Genius boy. After trying two dishes that weren't on the menu he went for "pork in stinky sauce". When it arrived it was a huge bowl of bright red liquid full of chillies and chili oil. The smell almoust made our eyes water but fair play to him he ate it, albeit in hot sweats and looking in agony. Amusingly the drinks menu was entitled "bellywash". So after a stinky sauce and bellywash we all went to bed at 20:30 in preparation for a tiring day and early morning tomorrow.
