We woke at 7:10am to get a taxi to the boat jetty to find a home for the next 3 days courtesy of Chris and Trish. After exploring about 4 boats and finding out prices etc we settled on our own Rice Barge and ended up agreeing a price which included as much cold Kingfisher Strong as you could shake a stick at.

We settled back and watched the local boat builders rythmically hammering while we ate some omelettes , toast and pinapple jam. We set sail and had the biggest lunch I think you have ever seen, dahl, popadoms, cabbage salad, betroot curry, rice, fish and lots lots more.
All in all a lovely day, cameras can't capture the beauty and sheer relaxation of a place like this and we can't really blog a great deal on it either unfortunatly. Saw lots of birds and were genuinely amazed at how huge the backwaters are.

The men wear shirts and a kind of shirt and skirt combo that can be folded to either of two lengths.  We even saw men at the train station wearing these complete with briefcase.

Check out the picture of our alarm clock and thermometer that Father Christmas brought it is very hot here.

The size of the tiger prawns are extraordinary some are as long as your forearm when you flatten them out.

We see lots of villagers and their homes, boys playing football and cricket and playing in the river, lots of people in small wooden canoes and people tending ther fishing nets and washing etc. Its all genuinly faxcinating.

Had dinner at about 6pm of chappati, chicken curry, ochre salad, cabbage salad, Kingfisher strongs and sat watching the geckos cathing the many mossies and midgies before retiring to our AC mosquito netted heaven.
