Got up at about 8am, after an air conditioned sleep, so peaceful only bird song.  One of the crew was taking part in the religious festival that was going on so left for his village after making us a breako of noodles and pineapple. Already starting to feel sad that our Indian adventure is coming to an end and although a month is a long time it just isn't long enough. We have done and seen so much, a very diverse country in terms of landscapes, religions, attitudes, lifestyles, climates etc.

We stopped at St Marys Church at champagulam and looked around listening to the bizarre chanted prayers. It is so relaxing just meandering along the backwaters watching people bathing, washing dishes, washing clothes in the river.  We also watched a group of naked teenage boys wrestling in the water which was strange.

We had a lunch of fried fish in a marinade, dhals, poppadoms etc then sailed for a few more hours. We enjoyed about 5 of our Kingfisher Strongs before Andrew got a little giddy after too much Kingfisher and Wilbur Smith (The wild man of rock still lives on) and shouted to the the man "Listen the daughter of seth and son of Osiris are looking for Swigman Freund to fetch another Kingfisher" we were somewhat amused by this but we had got a bit of a lash on in the afternoon.

We watched the fires in the fields and fireworks going off everywhere for the festival and watched a slow and gorgeous Sunset. Then the lizards came out to eat our arch enemies the flys, midgies and mozzies. The crew sealed off the dining area with mosquito nets which helped no end with Kerelas bountiful buglife. I think we both agree that we had chosen the perfect boat for us, 1 bedroom but a balcony with both shade and sunshine where we could escape from the crew and captain and have our own space. Thanks Mum and Dad this is great.
