We then went to the train station to try and get tickets sorted to get back to delhi again. After queing for too many hours we got to the front of the queue to be told the trains are fully booked. We paid to go on standby which 5 minutes after doing we realised and paying the whole lot we realised we were 55th in the 'waiting list'
. Fortunately we found a nice little internet cafe who did manage to get us tickets (this is the difference between internet and a huge queue of people pushing and argueing to get to the front of a queue were they seem to want to get rid of you rather than help you. The cycle rickshaws are very good, cheaper than an auto but also peaceful (apart from the constant horns). Our driver today went the wrong way up a triple carriageway with traffic in all three lanes coming straight at us, its just barmy!
After eating twice yesterday we lasted till 16:30 before we went out for tea and had a chick pea curry and veg biryani.
Got up early and went to the Golden Temple again to catch it at dawn (it was later than this but oh well), wandered around taking it all in again then queued for about 1.5 hours to get in the temple itself. Another fantastic Indian queueing experience who despite the hundreds in a solid queue just try to push you as much as possible. Lots of offerings in terms of food that appear to go straight into a 'bin' before being carried off either for distribution or binning we are not quite sure. Again I got chatting to more Sikh Men I think now everyone has a beard I'm one of the guys.
