Where I stayed
At home in a house with no furniture no television and no food
Well we go tomorrow. First thing if you have found this blog as a consequence of my text message I apologise I probably sent you the wrong e-mail address. Our e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org so you'll have to update your records. If you haven't found this blog I'm sorry and we will see you when we get home (although you wont be reading this so am I sorry???)
We are checked in for our flights tomorrow morning. Said all our goodbyes and emptied the house. Erica was out last night. It is funny how when you have no TV, Internet or any form of entertainment how easy it is to get things done. I simply sat on the floor of the kitchen did a bit of work, last bits of tidying up and reading up, ate my last pie (unless I find a good supplier in Aus?), then went to bed in my new sleeping bag liner (obviously E-bays finest are selling the extra small ones on the cheap as I cant fit in it (length ways not width ways obviously)
Bearing in mind that the last time we went on holiday we jumped in a taxi from the house to the airport the taxi driver and I couldn't fit the 3 man pop up tent into the car.. We got out of the car at the airport new best pals with the nutcase taxi driver who thought we were a little crazy (I don't think a 3 man pop up tent is that common for a two week trip abroad (obviously I told him it was a two day trip so he didn't break in)). We unloaded the taxi, the driver walked back to his car whilst I was looking at the luggage stroking my chin, "Erica where is the other bag?" I shouted and ran after the cabbie, who had started to drive away, thankfully he heard me and stopped so I could get the other bag out. After searching the car in its entirety we realised that we had left a bag at the end of the drive. The driver had to go back to our house pick up a bag and drive back to the airport. He couldn't stop laughing (probably because the content had about 15 books for a two day trip), the taxi firm had never had this before! A few months later during the freeze we ordered a cab, Erica was still getting ready so he had been waiting for about 5 minutes. Clearly with my Stephenson rush hat on I tried sprinting over the road so he didn't drive off, slipped on the ice fell rather harshly onto his bonnet (more lie an elbow drop). "You better not have dinted that...... Oh its you, does anything normal ever happen to you two, jump in d*ck head"
I am therefore looking for a uneventful start to this holiday. My bank account card for the trip arrived yesterday which whilst late at least it is here, I was getting slightly worrying so that isn't an issue. We have also ordered a taxi. Last post arrived 10 minutes ago, unfortunately my pin number for the new bank card hasn't. So it looks like we are leaving without the ability to withdraw any cash.. Great start!
Apologies to Dil, Fuz and Tetlow for not buying a round (I'm sure you all noticed), at least its a one off I've never been too shy round the bar before, unlike some.... (Fergal - Can I pay you back on direct debit 5 p per year for 15 years).
Still not packed but thats an argument for later on tonight.
See you in Russia.
