The beauty of holidaying on your own is that you can change plans on a whim and meander through your journey at your own pace. I decided to push my Sicily trip back a few days today. The weather in Malta has been absolutely perfect these last few days and I am just loving spending so much time by the water. Olga leaves for Russia on Friday night so I also wanted to spend a few more days here whilst she was still around as well.
I checked out of the Sliema hotel as planned so I am now spending a few nights staying at my Uncle Leo and Aunty Julie's house. They have a spare room and being spoiled in a nice home with some home cooked meals before leaving for Sicily was to my liking as well! Another thing I wanted to take advantage of whilst living here was to get some assistance working through the lessons in my Maltese language book. Cousin Lillian can actually speak 4 languages quiet fluently and Maltese is perhaps her best. I am really enjoying learning Maltese.
My Uncle Leo's house is in a suburb called Gzira, which is situated just behind Sliema, in fact about 10 minutes walk from the hotel I was staying in. I appreciated the opportunity to live with a Maltese family in a traditional home for a time, as well as being able to take advantage of the familiarities of Sliema. Sister Christine called the house this evening and I spoke with her, I am going to visit her in the morning. A trip to Valletta and spending some time with her sounded like a great start to the day!
