After leaving Christchurch we went to Lake Tekapo which is one of the very pretty lakes in the South Island. The water is turquoise and milky because of the minerals in there. So you cannot see anything in the water, but the color is amazing. We spent a night there, walking around and the next day we let for Mt. Cook, the highest mountain in NZ (3754m, sorry no clue about the feet....) We spent 2 nights in the little village of Mt. Cook, hiking both days (just short hikes, but very nice!!!) with views of the glaciers, the mountain range and us :-)
After Mt. Cook we had to overnight in Queenstown, because of the bus rounting. That was fine, we had some nice food and beer and just relaxed before we head to Dunedin the next morning. Dunedin is tge most scottish town outside of Scotland, founded by Scots. Dunedin is scotish gaelic for Edinburgh, so they even have a scottish shop there where you can buy shortbread and kilts. The British, no words for that :-) We took a walk through the city and saw all the hightlights like 2 museums, the botanical gardens, churches, etc. The city is very nice, but ok for 2 days. We wanted to talk a ghost tour at night to see the scary highlights but is was cancelled.
After Dunedin we made a little stop in Invercargill, the most southern town in NZ.Well, 1 night would have been enough, there is litterally nothing to see. The ocean is too far to walk, the city itseld only has a nice "Queen Garden" but after 2 hours we were kind of done with the sights. So we hang out there, and waited :-)
From Invercargill we went to Te Anau close to the Fjordlands. Very nice little town at the lake Te Anau, with amazing clear water. But we had only a few hours there as we did a full day excursion to the Doubtful Sound in the Fjords. Which was amazing!!! After we got picked up by a bus we took a cruise on Lake Manapouri to the Power Station, from where a 30min bus ride took us to the other side and we reached Doubtful Sound. From here we did a 3 hours cruise to the Tasman Sea, the Ocea. During the cruise the captain turn off all engines and the silence was amazing - no words - just birds singing and the wind, untouched nature. That was the best part of the trip for me.
So this morning we left for Queenstown (again) where we now stay 3 nights. Andi wants to go rafting tomorrow, I am undecided if I save my money or go fishing, paragliding or sailboat racing... well, I will let you know next week :-)
After the 3 days here we will head to the Franz Josepf Glacier and do a Heli- Icewalking trip. And on the 16th we will meet up with Steff - yeah!!!!

Ein kurzes Update von uns.....
Nach Christchurch sind wir zum Lake Tekapo aufgebrochen. Das Wasser dieses Sees war sehr milchig-blau/tuerkis. Schwer zu beschreiben. Es war sehr ruhig dort. Ausser dem See und einer kleinen Kirche mit einem Fenster mit Blick auf Meer statt eines Altars, gab es dort nicht viel. Wir sind auch nur eine Nacht geblieben und am naechsten Tag zum Mt Cook aufgebrochen. Ungelogen in diesem Ort gab es noch weniger. Es gab naemlich keinen Supermarkt und da unsere Vorraete nicht so ueppig waren, haben wir uns zwei Tage von Reis ernaehrt. Wir waren recht viel wandern an den zwei Tagen, die wir dort verbrachten. Zwar nur kurze Strecken, aber die Umgebung war schon interessant. Besonders der Hooker Valley Lake. Der Track endete an einem Gletscher bzw. einem See. Der Gletscher bricht an der Stelle ab und wird im Wasser den See/Fluss den Berg runtergespuelt. Es waren also ziemlich grosse Eisbrocken im Wasser.
Anschliessend mussten wir eine Nacht in Queenstown berbringen. Es gab keinen direkten Bus an einem Tag nach Dunedin, unserem naechsten Ziel. Dunedin gefiel uns sehr gut. Es gab eine Menge alter historischer Gebaeude. In dem botanischen Garten gab es viele verschiedene Themen: einen Steingarten, einheimische Pflanzen, Suedafrika, usw. Wir wollten am Abend eine Tour durch Dunedin unternehmen, leider ist diese aufgrund zu weniger Teilnehmer ausgefallen.
Nach den zwei Tagen haben wir 2 Tage in Invercargill verbracht. Ueber diese Stadt gibt es nicht viel zu berichten. Es war ziemlich langweilig dort.
Nach Invercargill ging es nach Te Anau. Wir haben am Samstag eine Doubtful Sound Tour unternommen. Es war toll. Wir konnten Seelowen sehen. Ausserdem wurden die Maschinen gestoppt, so dass wir die Natur geniesen konnten. :-) Einfach schoen.
Jetzt sind wir in Queenstown. Mal sehen, was wir unternehmen werden.

Hey Andi,
endlich haben wir euren Blog gefunden, oh die Bilder sehen so toll aus und Ihr seht mega glücklich aus, bin schon gespannt auf weitere Fotos. Genießt die Zeit, hier ist alles im Lot mehr oder weniger...:o)
