Stayed in Wellington for the nights of the 12, 13, and 14. It was pretty nice, shopped and wandered with the gang all the second day. Didn't go to the Te Papa Museum, which I'm sure I'll regret not doing cause I heard that was pretty cool. But it was a good time.
Most memorable moment: missing the bus on the morning of the 14th...!!! I was staying in a different room from the gang, and have not had a problem getting up for any early buses or anything yet. I think I was waking up out of necessity, so I always woke up about 5 or 10min before my alarm. I set it for 6:50 (bus at 7:55am) and woke up, turned it off, and was going to lay in bed. Well I guess I hadn't fully woken up cause when I opened my eyes the next time it was 8. It didn't really register for a couple minutes. I knew something was amiss, but not really sure what was going on. Then I was like, holy shit, the bus is gone. It's left and there's no way I can catch it or anything. So I put my pants on and a shirt, all nonchalantly, and walk out to go downstairs, call them and book myself on the bus for tomorrow, and then to extend my bed another night. Then I see Karolien coming out of the elevator and she's like Andie, what are you doing?! Cause I'm perfectly calm and just sauntering around, hah. Then I got really confused and asked when the bus is here, and she's like, NOW go pack!! Cause I hadn't, of course. So I freak out and race back into my room, and my roommate was sleeping and I scared the absolutely bejeebers out of her, that was fun, but I don't think she was too happy. Shoved everything into any bag (I notice now that I believe I left my Lonely Planet there... so so so very mad) and run out of the room. Down the 5 floors, check out, but what did I forget, my pillowcase, of course! Karolien had already ran ahead of me to the bus, and so I ran up one flight, then realized it'd be faster to take the lift, and grabbed my case, then ran the stairs down, I knew I'd be faster. Man, I was panting so hard. I was completely expecting the bus to be gone when I ran out the doors, but it was there. Thank goodness. What a rush, that was cheaper than any other thing I'll do, hah.
It was good.
