Alright, so we arrived at Santiago airport 9:55am local time after leaving at 10am the same day in Sydney. That's right, we travelled back in time. Andies uncle Oscar picked us up and took us to lunch at a Peruvian restaurant. Needless to say the food was exquisite and plentiful. See they have this thing in south America where breakfast and dinner are kind of small and lunch is monstrous. So I ordered "Arroz con pollo" (rice with chicken) expecting a large plate, but wow was this a lot of rice! Maybe I should have read the title a little better. Rice with chicken, this definitely was not chicken with rice.
Our friend Connie lives in Viña del mar, now the only way for us to get there was by bus. A south American bus notorious for bad driving and dodgy antics
Where the hell do we go now? Two tourists with giant bags in a distant city. One local thought we should go with him. Exactly what he said is still unknown to this day, as he was speaking stereotypical Chilean. Think of Chilean Spanish as Australian English, fast and with a lot of slang. Impossible to understand even for the fluent ( Andrea! ). Eventually we found Connie and after a short taxi ride we were at her house.
The words "jet lagged" couldn't describe how tired we were. So that night we went for a walk around the beach looked at some local markets, then it was straight to sleep. Let the journey begin!!!
