Hi everyone! First off let me apologize for the delay in getting this next round of pictures up for all of you to see.  Let's just say that I hate European plugs and generic brand North American power converters.  Anyways, expect several updates here.  Today's update is for Thursday, April 29th, and what a day it was.  After sleeping in until 7:30am, the students had a big buffet breakfast before heading out on the bus into Paris for the day.  Our day began with a guided bus tour of the city for several hours, with a few stops along the way.  Highlights of the bus tour included a photo stop at Trocodero overlooking the Eiffel Tower, driving along the insane roundabout at the Arc de Triomphe at the end of the Champs Elysee, where 12 streets converge into one roundabout.  The students were also shown such places as Les Invalides, L'Ecole Militaire, Opera House, The Louvre, the National Assembly, and the spot where the public guillotine executed both marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI during the French Revolution

After several hours, the bus made its way down to Versailles, where the students had some free time to shop and eat in the little own of Versailles before entering the majestic and beautiful Palace.  As we entered the palace, the students gawked at the sheer enormity of the palace, and we went around back to see the beautiful and spacious grounds that make up the "backyard" if you will (which is hectres upon hectres of land).  When you see your travellers' photos of the grounds, you will see some of the most beautiful and finely landscaped gardens in the world. The group then went into the palace, and toured the many opulent rooms of Versailles, the highlight being the famous Hall of Mirrors.  After an hour or so to tour this in small groups, we met back outside and headed into Paris for another meal!

After dinner, the students made their way to the Eiffel Tower, when most brave souls made it all the way to the top (some needed some prodding from friends of course!).  It was such a clear and warm day, the students' photos turned out brilliantly and they were so excited to show them off. After the trip up and down the Tower (some even walked the final leg down the Tower),the group boarded a cruise boat and had a one hour nighttime cruise down the Seine River.  Seeing the wonderful buildings lit up at night was so beautiful (my personal fave was Notre Dame cathedral all lit up)!   The cruise ended at 10pm, just as the Eiffel Tower was sparkling (every hour, on the hour), and the students boarded a bus back to the hotel after a long, exhausting and exhilarating day.

The only bad news - you may be getting back children who will be asking for more money to come back to Paris because they have all fallen in love with this majestic city!  My apologies!
