Enjoy the pics from Blue Mountains, Sydney and Jervis Bay. Pushed out from Yarrawonga Sydney bound. Drove through bush country so isolated, sometimes it was 45 minutes before we would pass another vehicle on the road. Flocks of green wild parrots everywhere, the natives here don't pay them any mind at all. (would be like our pigeons!)
Have seen lots of dead "roos" but not a live one yet! Stopped in the Blue mountains just west of Sydney. Thats where we saw the Aboriginal bloke playing his diggerydoo. (really cool sound). The oils from all the ecalyptis trees is what makes the mountains appear blue. Koala bear country. There are signs on the side of the road warning you not to hit the koala bears and "roos". Arrived in Sydney on a Saturday and it was hell driving around that city. Not uncommon for a street to not only change it's name in the middle but also its direction! Makes quite an interesting drive for yanks like us. I was so happy Joyce was driving because I would have been a wreck...Had to pop 3 Tums for that experience... FINALLY found a parking place and went on a Sydney harbor cruise for 2 hours. What a beautiful harbor. Only stayed there one day and headed south to where we are hanging out now for a few days. Going for a dive Thursday with an outfit here. The beaches are gorgeous with the whitest sand in the world.(according to Guiness). The sand is like talcum powder and actually "sqeaks" when you walk on it.
We have a little cabin just off the beach, can see the Tasman sea from our little porch.
We are really loving Australia. The Aussie's all seem to think that we all carry guns like the wild west. (Watching too many Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies!)
Took a whale watching cruise yesterday but only saw some bottle nose dolphins. They said we could go again for free since we didn't see any whales this go round. Have a couple of days to play here at Port Jarvis. Hope you enjoy the pictures. So glad we perservered at that damn blog site and finally got it figured out. Bet you got a good chuckle when the only picture you saw was of the lambs !!! The "Hons" weren't going to give up that easy. Once the firewall was disabled on the laptop, it all went smooth as butter. We'll keep the photo's coming mates. EVERYONE here calls everyone else "mate".
Doesn't have the same meaning as we have in the States. When you buy something they'll say "that will be $10 mate, thankyou. When you reply "thankyou", then they reply, "no worries mate...cheers"! Very different here. To "rug up" means to dress warmly., etc. We're starting to talk them them, it's funny how quickly hons can adapt..
Will send some more goodies soon, hopefully we'll be able to send some whale shots if we're lucky.
Cheers for now mates!
