Daily tours to Heidiland by "Gray Line" company, depart from the city of Zurich at around 11:00AM, nearby the train station. Another option is to do the same route by car. Either way, this trip will grant you plenty of excuses to use your camera with stunning views of Switzerland's country side, the opportunity to visit another country on the same day and a visit to the land that inspired famous Swiss writer Johanna Spyri to write the stories of Heidi.
The tour’s first stop is in the gorgeous village of Rapperswil, the “City of Roses” where you can visit its Medieval castle and old town. After leisure time in the village you travel through Switzerland’s east mountain region to Vaduz, capital of the small country of Liechtenstein, for a walk around town. The last stop is Maienfeld, the setting for the Heidi stories; this tiny village is formed by a collection of a few typical mountain houses, a recreation of Heidi’s house and a village shop. Besides that, you have amazing views of the mountains, plenty of goats and cows around, the most fresh air you would ever breath and the clearest, cleanest water to drink, directly from the Swiss alps. You cannot get healthier than this.
The tour takes about 7 hours and is very well planned. I highly recommend it.
