Hope everyone had a GREAT New Year's. I ended up going with my homestay mom and sister (Iveth and Tannia) to Iveth's mother's house for some karaoke and dinner and then to Iveth's friend's house for a party. Nothing terribly exciting except for the karaoke at both houses. Many DVD players down here have karaoke capabilities which I had not seen before, how neat. We ate some chop suey and some really good cracker spread made of cream cheese and raisins. Yesterday most everything was closed, so Tannia and I went to see King Kong at the mall, it was really good. Right now I'm trying to decide what the rest of my week is going to look like. There's a couple volunteers returning to San Ramón today from a trip over New Years and hopefully they will want to travel to a beach for part of the week, as Will from Habitat has had to do some other things and will not be able to leave this week, but we'll see. I may end up just hanging out around San Ramón for the week and going to the pool, practicing my Spanish, and preparing for all the work I will have to do in the next couple of weeks. I have found a new internet café that wasn't here during the summer. They have high speed internet connections instead of dial up and new computers. They may even have Wi-Fi (I still have to ask), so I may be able to use my laptop here whenever. Keep replying to e-mails and posting comments I love to hear from everyone up there. The weather down here is GREAT, it pretty much stays in the 70's all day everyday, and it's the dry season so it doesn't rain as much as it did during the summer. I've begun to spend a lot of time walking around downtown and enjoying the great weather. Good luck on everyone's New Years resolutions. Amy.
