So costa rica is still fantastic. I can´t wait to be able to
come back again. We've been building houses all week with Friday off, we went to
Montezuma (a beach on the east coast of the Nicoyan Pennisula) and had a great
time, probably 12 or 15 volunteers total went. I didn´t do much of the
touristy stuff, but spent most of my time with a girl from England who is
working with community development in a smaller city outside of San Ramón. We
got to be pretty good friends and spent a whole lot of time in the hammocks
outside of our hostile, that was right on the beach under the palm trees. On
Saturday we hiked to the waterfalls, I lost my rainbows (sandals) on the climb,
oh well a small sacrifice for a once in a lifetime experience. It was amazing. Oh well.
Ahhh what a weekend. I didn't want to leave the beach I can't wait for the next
one we´ll go to (probably Puerto Viejo on the Carribean coast, they say this
one is ten times better than Montezuma but I don't know if I believe it). The
houses are coming along nicely we spent most of the time laying the floors and
mortaring the walls. Pretty tedious and a lot of mixing concrete, I'll have
muscles of steel when I get back, well maybe not but they'll have gotten a work
out. I've met lots of great people from all over the world and have gotten lots
of e-mail addresses so when I travel I'll have a lot of choices of places to
stay, haha. This coming weekend we are all going to Volcan Arenal, we are
leaving tomorrow afternoon and will come back on Sunday for another week of
work. But I think it will be a blast. I talked to the new volunteer coordinator
and will probably take some time from building once a week or so to work with
her and get some admin experience which I'm looking forward to. I hope everyone
up there in the us is doing well and having a good summer, Ill look forward to
catching up on everything, but still don´´t want to leave.
Well I guess it's dinner time so I gotta head back to the house, which is still
going great by the way, the mom and her daughter are great and the daughter
Tania is helping me with my spanish and I with her English. I'll hope to hear
from you guys throughout the summer. Hope everything up there is going well.
Have a great summer and be safe.
