Day 7 – Bicheno
and Freycient National Park.

Well it was a wet and cold day in the East Coast today. We took our time getting ready
this morning and went to get some food as we would be hiking. At
about 11 we headed to Freycient National Park. Freycient is home to
Wineglass bay. I had decided we should do the walk to the lookout and
I had an idea it was a rather steep one. With our food and water in
our bag we headed on the hike.

The walk was
beautiful but very hard and steep. You need to have reasonable
fitness to be able to complete it. The track leads straight up the
mountain, it took about 40 min to reach the top of the lookout.
Anthony nearly died climbing. However when we reached the top we had
the beautiful view of Wineglass Bay. Unfortunately it was very
overcast so we didn’t get the best photos. The other thing I cannot
believe was how many people were at this lookout. There were people
everywhere. After a few photos we headed back down to the car park.
The walk back down was a lot easier, about half way down it started
raining.

Tasmania’s number
One short walk is also in freycient. Cape Tourville circuit is an
easy 20min circuit. We decided to walk it. Although the scenery
around us was stunning we could not see much, as a mist had fallen
thickly across the ocean. We headed back to the car and headed home
as we were both very tired.

The only other thing
that was done this afternoon was going to see the Bicheno Blowhole in
the rain. We really liked the blowhole. Because of the rain the surf
was a bit rougher, which meant the blowhole was bigger.

At 9:40 we headed to
Bicheno penguin tour. We followed a guide through the rookeries
looking at all the little penguins. It was a tour I would strongly
recommend, due to the fact you get very close to the birds.

What a shame the weather wasn't better. Wineglass Bay was still very beautiful.
