Today was Ash's birthday. She was turning 15, which was very exciting.
We woke up and had breakfast. Today we had to get moving pretty quickly, which was difficult considering that we had a late start yesterday. Once everyone was ready we made a move towards the ferry pier. We all made it through to the waiting bay but unfortunately not all of us made it on to the ferry. It wasn't even full, but as soon as the gate was closed, Robynne , Craig and I were left on the other side. Luckily there was another ferry leaving in 5 minutes. As the ferry left the pier, mum stuck her head ot the window, shouting "dumb bunnies!" and taking pictures. It was quite embarrassing for us. We caught the next ferry, but dad made us run when we got to the other side in order to catch the next ferry to Lamma Island. The ferry trip to Lamma Island was a lot longer than the first ferry, and it was rockier, too. Once we reached Lamma Island, we got straight into our hike. I was under the impression that it was a small hike across the island and back to a seafood restaurant, but it was a real hike. It was about 4kms, but there were a lot of steep inclines and steep declines. The path wasn't very wide and it was a very humid day. It was still a nice walk, and it made lunch feel even better once you know that you've walked so far to get it. Near the end of the walk was a small temple and a tiny, tiny concrete pond that was filled with hundreds of turtles. It was a little random, but it looked pretty cool.
We ate lunch in a seafood restaurant. The way the seafood restaurants are set up is kind of like the way there are all the car dealers that are all lined up together. There is just all seafood restaurants, one after the other after the other.
The restaurant we chose, was really nice, and the people had a good sense of humour. We cheered when they brought us each dish, which made them laugh so hard. Once we had finished lunch, we bought ice-creams for dessert and sat and waited for our ferry. We thought that the ferry would be at 1:50pm, but it didn't come until 2:30. We amused ourselves by listening to our iPods and singing. We finally took the ferry back and went back to our hotel room to chill out.
We finall got ready and went out at dusk to Jordan, the next station to eat dinner. Jordan is also where the night market is, so after dinner we made our way there. The night market is unlike anything that we have back home. It is a few roads during the day, but during the night it is kilometres of stalls. It has items from classly to tacky, from funny to duisgusting. The huge variety makes it a lot of fun to walk through. We walked all the way to the end and all the way back before we got on a train and went back home. At the hotel room, we sang Happ Birthday to Ash and gave her a little present.
