Our taxi driver to school missed our turn-off, so he stopped in the freeway far lane and got us to jump over the fence, and cross the road to the school. We arrived at achool just in time for the national anthem to be played.
The first class was maths again, but they had an exam. The surprising thing was, was that there was no teacher supervising. This resulted in an underlying chatter, but they generally kept quiet. Back home, kids would be jumping on tables and yelling "whatcha guys get for C?"
English class was next and they had another exam. It must be that time of year. Laura nd I were able to read out their listening part again. It was fun, but we had to read really slowly.
A boy named Sam gave Laura and I a friendship book. Your friends each fill out a page about themselves, and Laura and I have filled out about 30 of these pages over the course of the week for other children. Yesterday we expressed that we thought that they were cute and asked where you could buy them. Today, Sam came in with a new one for us. He said he didn't have much money, so he could only buy one, and hoped that we could share. it was so sweet!
Next, we were due to have aerobics, but we had to do a fire drill instead. We weren't allowed to speak or smile, and had to move briskly. We were arranged on the quandrangle before we could go back inside.
We had Chinese class for two periods, where we read a story and more poetry.
Lunch was again in the staff room, where mum showed us that she did the English translation for the school website.
After lunch, we had maths class again, as the music teacher was sick. They said that the music teacher is always ill. Our English teacher came in and gave Laura and I cute little phone decorations. One was Santa Claus, and she was quite proud of herself for knowing that. It was really nice. They are giving us things because, in China, it is the host who gives the gifts, not necessarily the guest.
We finished school and took taxis home. Dad, James and Craig had arrived!
