Christmas Day!
We woke up and cooked pancakes for breakfast.  There was no rush to get anywhere, or do anything, so it was nice to relax a bit in the morning.
We opened our Christmas presents from mum and dad, which were all thoughtful and nice.  It was good to get some more clothes to wear while we're here.
We had booked a sleigh ride for 10am, so we went downstairs to wait. And wait. And wait.  It was soon evident that the sleigh was not coming.  We contacted the company, who were so apologetic for the mistake.  They couldn't contact the driver, and were very upset for inconveniencing us.
We went back to the apartment, and opened our last gift.  It was a gold and diamond ring, with our names engraved into it.  They were absolutely beautiful, and we are so grateful.
We decided to go out to ski, so that we could catch the Mountain Mass Church service.  We were able to ski a few runs before we made our way to the chapel at the top of the mountain.  It is a quaint little chapel, a hundred metres or so away from the chairlift base, and it must have the most beautiful views of any other.  Ir overlooks the ski runs, the village and the many pine trees.
We, and a large group of skiers waited outside for about half an hour, before we concluded that the priest, too, was not coming.  One of the ladies offered to pray for us before everyone left.  Although we missed out on a service, there was something really special about a bunch of strangers from all corners of the globe coming together in prayer.
We skied for the rest of the afternoon.  Everyone on the mountain was in a really friendly mood, and many of the lifties wore Santa hats and other Christmas apparel.  The views from the runs were amazing. You could see the whole village, the other mountains and the always snow-sprinkled pine trees.  You'd think it was photoshopped if it was on a postcard.
We finished skiing as it was getting cold, and returned home.  We watched TV and some went in the spa as it snowed.
We got ready for our big Christmas dinner.
The dinner was a big buffet, and we went back for more and more.  I spent a suspicious amount of time over at the kids' section, but I can't help if they had the best food.
We walked home in the snow to watch old home movies.  It snowed so hard, and we could see it piling onto the spa cover. Dad kept wiping it clean, but the snow didn't stop, and fat, thick snowflakes continuously landed on the clean slate.
I suppose this shows that although sometimes things don't always go to plan, as long as you're with people you love, it doesn't matter.  We still had a memorable day, one of the best Christmas days of my life.

What a shame about the sleigh ride! Can they organise it for another day?
Drizzle & cool here, but the cricket's still playing
