So, here we are, back travelling again.  The Fisher family, after a hiatus, is ready to conquer another new destination. For the first time, we are visiting Europe and North America as a family, and we could not be more excited.  All I am worried about is the frequency that I will accidentally say 'Canadia' when I'm there.  It is a simple mistake to make, and have already made it a few times!
The day began as any other.  Laura and I headed off to work, after only a few hours sleep due to the work Christmas party being the night before.  Work was busy, as expected before Christmas, so the time went by quite quickly. Before we knew it, we were driving home to finish the last few things and off to the airport.
We were flying with JetStar to Sydney to help get us on our way.  Unfortunately, due to a glitch in the baggage conveyor belts, the queue took over an hour to check in. This was time well spent by us wondering what the other passengers thought we were doing with six large suitcases and five small suticases, going to Sydney.  All our luggage is red, supposedly to help easily identify them, yet it is no longer unusual to have red bags.  We finally got checked in, and we were soon on the plane to Sydney.  I always forget how short the flight actually is to Sydney, and just as I was getting into my movie, we were descending into the city. Argh. I guess I'll have more than enough time tomorrow to finish it.
At Sydney, we were met by our cousins; Jodi, Zoli and Abby, who drove our bags to the hotel, while we walked.  In the seven-seater car, there was only enough room for some of the bags, driver and a passenger (with cases on her lap).  The rest of us walked, looking quite like the Von Trapp family; walking single file with our rolly carry-on bags all the way to the hotel.
We had dinner at the hotel, followed by a lovely puppet show by Abby.  The characters were a candy-cane, and a purple Rudolph (which Dad mistakenly heard as 'rooter'---that changed the dimension of the show a little).
Abby slept over, and we were soon up again the next morning.
Jodi and Zoli again picked us up, armed with fresh croissants for breakfast, and we made it to the International Airport in two trips.
We made it through Customs and Security, and on to Duty Free.  We furiously googled the legal drinking age for Canada, so that I could take in some alcohol.  For future reference, the age is 18 in Quebec and 19 everywhere else.
We are now currently in the gate, waiting for our flight to Vancouver!
