Where I stayed
1.5hrs drive along a dirt road into the Rural Villages of Uganda
Vilage House
Ethiopia:-
Poor, Rich History, Suprisingly beautiful countryside, Monarchy, Dancers, Italians, African Time, Africas Largest Market, Tomaka - Coffee, Ingera, Churches...
Tanzania (with Ned);-
Orphange, Kids, Scenery, Baby Orphanage, Rural Landscape, Poor, UN / World Vision Aid Organisations, grandhma looking after 10 kids with banana farm and corrugated iron roof.
Safari:- Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngongoror Crater. The amount of Animals and scener here is mind blowing - its better then you think and see on the Documentaries as you are in it! Every type of African Animal was present except gorillas!
Uganda:- Mission Trip to evangelise a Village called Paragang and plant a church there.
With Approximately 8 weeks of Prep in Abu Dhabi with the team of approx 9, blessing of the church pastor, prayer and fasting we felt comfortable enough to enter Uganda for the Mission. Which when visting the rural villages and the families of our Mission Group Leaders, appeared in terms of our physical safety a bit of an over reaction.
However in terms of Spriritual Safety maybe not so. Considering we went to an area and people that had not been outreached before the realm was thick and fast.
Broad Oultined of the Events for Four Days:-
Early Rise - Prayer
Church in Paragang (sermons, teaching, worship - we were expected to provide this).
Lunch (feed all who attend Church).
Open air Crusade in the Afternoon. Set Speakers up in a Paddock in the MIddle of Nowhere and watched 100s of people come from farms and villages to hear the good news and worship.
Late Dinner at Home followed by long sessions of prayer.
We were expected to give testimony and preach at all events and be the MC on some occassions. We were also the onyl white fellas on the trip and Im sure that the kids in these villages had not seen one before as they would stroke my skin and react in the most hilarious fashion to my monkey interpretation.
Note to self: Never throw water on a bunch of Ugandan Kids. The thought of an angry mob of kids with rocks beckoning does not go down so well.
One of my ondest memories was sitting under a mango tree with Susan and Her extended family for hours listening to the elders of the clan pay respect to one another and tell stories of life gone by. All the while being served local produce from the paddocks and trees from around us. The feast was unforgettable. Ugandan Rural Feast!
We learnt and grew alot in Faith and God.
David Main lessons Learnt.
1. Both Sides are playing for keeps.
2. Spiritual Realm is ever present.
3. A healthy Chrisitan Marriage is the Sanctification of God.
4. Once we recognise that the Word, Our Mind and Body are sinful the only way to escape is through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Other Points of Note:-
Many People were saved someting like 270 I think. This was confirmed with Church attedance the week after we left.
100s of people would come forward for Prayer when asked at the Open air Crusade.
Kids Everywhere.
Subsistence Living.
Happy People Everywhere living of the beautiful land.
People had up to as many as 12 kids... 12!
Often when I asked whos kid that was people would not know!
No Electricity, No Running Water.
On the last night in Uganda.
We had a divine appointment:-
We heard a lady tell her testimony whereby she was blind and received here sight back thanks to the lord. The same lady died for three days was decomposing and then came back to life. Whilst dead she went to heaven and hell and had the most captivating and engrossing testimony I have ever heard. At like One in the morning we were utterly exhausted from the week of missions but somehow enchanted by this ladies ever so detailed description of heaven and what she took from the experience. We left there that night feeling as though we had encountered Jesus and the lasting impressions where that we were sinners and that all glory must go to god.
Awe inspiring - life changing.
I have prepared a CD and Will mail it to you aswell.
Take Care Love David.
