Where I stayed
Russian homestay with the Golubev Family
Amy in Russia with the Golubev Family
"Time flies when you´re having fun."
So the old adage holds true - possibly the fastest 2 weeks of my life! An absolutely wonderful homestay in St Petersburg with the Golubev family; Grigori (the lamb connossieur), Elena (the chef extraordinaire), Vova (the ultimate gentleman), Sasha (the Israeli star) & Masha (the cheeky monkey).
A real taste of Russia...and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - all the different styles of delicious cuisine that appeared night after night from of Elena´s kitchen. Mmmmmmmm!!!
A sneak peak into student life as the silent student smuggled into Vova & Sasha´s universities.
A surprise invite to a Russian wedding where I fast became an avid participant in the frequent chants of¨"Gorka! Gorka! Gorka!" encouraging the married couple to kiss one another.
Excursions day after day with Vova, Sasha and friends, Roma and Tiger showing me every corner of their beautiful city and explaining the history of every monument, church, palace in perfect English!
The finale of my stay at the exquisite Mariinskiy Theatre for a breathtaking Russian ballet performance of Cinderella - I still have goosebumps thinking about it!
An incredible experience that I owe to a very valued friend and colleague - "Speciba Vena!!"
