Initial plans allowed for a mere few days in the 'Worlds coldest country' but the attraction of exploring more of Mongolia proved too great and on Sunday morning we joined a group of four others (three Israelies and a fellow Brit) on a trip to the South Gobi.

The ride was bumpy at times, and bone shattering at others but after two stop over nights to cover the 1000km from UB we made it to the real desert and sand dunes. Highlights include camel riding, staying with Mongolian Nomadic families in the traditional Ger accommodation and Amy's vomiting at 4am on Thursday night.

At times our driver took an even more scenic route seemingly taking several u turns and changes of direction that even the poorest of map reader would be proud of. But 'when in Rome', we accepted even more time in the passenger seat of our Russian mini-bus with a typical Mongolian laugh.

The food was never varied, rice and meat only, the personal hygiene went out the window (a hole in the ground for toilets if we were lucky) and the night life consisted of learning new card games. However, the people, sights and experiences all in all made for an amazing seven days.
