After a few delays at the airport (we set off an hour later than expected, Michael had a typo on his work visa, and customs weren't too keen on the Kangaroo jerky we had with us...) we were whisked away to our adopted family, the Hawes household, to enjoy Christmas and be thoroughly spoilt, before our final onward trip to Wellington in the New Year. We arrived just in time to experience Christchurch's earthquakes first-hand, as a 5.8 then a 6.0 shook us up a bit- the second one managing to fell the Christmas tree!
