took the train from Genova to La Spezia, which took a little longer than we'd anticipated....and then train from La Spezia to the delightful town of Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre. unfortunately as we arrived a tad late, the annoying hostel brothers gave away our reservation for the night. grrrr.... so we had an adventure and roughed it at a slightly less recommended hostel for the night and came upon all sorts of other travelers to entertain us.

and then we took the train up from Riomaggiore up to Monterroso and hiked back down the coast in the fairly brutal summer heat, trying every flavour of gelato in Vernazza, Corniglia and Manarola on the way back to Riomaggiore.

My favourites still are fresh, in season strawberry gelato and the delectable stracciatella gelato.  .  . scrumptious. i could go for some right now.

As much as I adore the Cinque Terre, I hate to gush about it. I'd like to keep it for myself, thanks ;)
