We started out Day Two by continuing our tour of the Gettysburg area.  We started at the Gettysburg National Cemetery.  Since it was not only almost July 4th, but it was also the anniversary of the battle, there were flags placed at all of the soldier's graves.  The most poignant and emotional part of the cemetery was the section of unknown soldiers.

I found it interesting that there were also graves of soldiers who served in other wars and battles other than the Civil War.  This is because it was a National cemetery, and any person who served could request to be buried there.

We really lucked out on the weather despite the fact that the news was calling for rain.

As mentioned in the caption for this blog, my father is a published author of a book on the 134th New York Infantry in the Civil War.  Therefore, we spent some time across the street from the cemetery where the monument for this group is located.  We also got to visit a part of the town where there are actually monuments located right next to some residential homes.

At the conclusion of our tour, we went into the town to do a little shopping and have a quick bite to eat before heading home.  What a great trip!
