Mediterranean cruise- 14th Sept- Cadiz, Spain and Corfu, Greece
We made good friends with our table companions when we traveled on P & O's Oriana from Sydney to Southampton three years ago, and we resolved to have a reunion cruise together, and this is it. 16 nights out of Southampton, with seven Mediterranean ports. These photos are of Cadiz in Spain and Corfu in Greece, about which I have written before, so I won’t go into a lot of detail. A couple of ship shots, and then two of Cadiz, a gracious and tidy town surrounded by a promenade on the sea defences.
Corfu, although Greek, has more of an Italian flavour, and indeed has been owned by Italy, France, and England at various times, with the French having contributed most to the architecture, with a token contribution from England in the form of a cricket field- it’s the only Greek island where cricket is a major sport.
Quaint little streets, two big forts to explore, and we were surprised to find Greek dancers in the streets NOT collecting donations from us tourists!

My sister sailed on the Oriana from Auckland to London in 1967!! Hope it wasn't the same ship!?!
I have actually played cricket on that pitch for HMS Invincible against the local expat team. We lost by 1 wicket but never had to buy a drink all night!!
