at around nightfall.
The size was on a different scale to the other cities we had visited. The bus had driven through traffic in Lima for about 40 mins before we got the bus station but not before we all witnessed a crash from 2 cars in front of us. When we looked down to see what had happened, it was your regular reason...2 cars had bumped into eachother and a sofa had fallen off the roof of a tiny matchbox car into the middle of the road!
We stayed in a safe and actually fairly swanky part of town, Miraflores
and went out for some non-Peruvian cuisine... middle eastern food that night...very tasty! I had a negative opinion of Lima and it was a big, seriously polluted part of Peru. However Miraflores had a nice feel and the town at night was full of energy and some beautiful grand buildings. The streets were really busy and once on foot, it was a nice place to explore. One day is probably enough for us but I think it might have improved my thoughts on Lima. After over a week spending every day on a bus we decided to skip the 21 hour bus journey to Inca Trail town and get the 1.5 hour flight instead! So that's what we did, ready to set up home for two weeks in our next stop - Cusco.
We took a long bus journey through some more desert and beautiful coastline and arrived in Peru's mad capital
