Before we headed west back towards California and the coast, we decided to take a look at the area of Scottsdale, just east of Phoenix in Arizona. It was a cool area, and we look time to chill in the really hot weather, shop and catch up on some internet stuff, as well as seeing yet another awesome sunset.

We drove across and out of Phoenix and the drive was going fine until about one and a half hours on the highway from our overnight stop at Palm Springs and IN THE MIDDLE OF A DESERT (!), an almighty storm appears to the left of us in the distance!   Wow, very very dark clouds and oh hang on, here comes the rain and its heavy, lets slow to 40 mph and turn on the wipers full speed.... oh hang on, what's this warning light appearing on the car's screen panel?? "Low tyre pressure, add air"....smashing news, miles from anywhere and in the middle of a storm with 15 meter visibility!! Luckily, the storm seemed to head over us, and back towards where we'd come from fairly quickly. So we pulled over in a rest area on the highway, fully expecting to be greeted by the grim reaper in this deserted rest area in the middle of nowhere...but he wasn't there, which made us happy! So we got out, looked at the tyre and it didn't seem too critical - although there was a small tear, eek! We decided to carry on slowly to Palm Springs, and then report it to Alamo when in town. While watching the news in Palm Springs we found out that the day after we left Phoenix they had massive rain storms and 5!!! tornadoes!!!!....we had the start of it on the highway.........wow, that was close!!!
