Where I stayed
However, after settling in you see it's a really nice city, very clean and everyone was really friendly. We went out for a nice steak at a steakhouse. While we were there the temperature was in the high 70's and I got heat stroke from driving with the top down. You don't realize how hot it is with the wind blowing through your hair.
Set off early yesterday morning to head for the deep south, New Orleans. We passed through Alabama, Mississippi and arrived in Louisiana! Wow temperature change!!!! We're now in the low 90's!! Hot hot. After we had been driving for about an hour, Anne turned to me and said 'when was the last time we went around a bend?' talk about straight! Upon nearing N.O, we were on the Florida border!! How cool.
Arrived in N.O at about 430 central time (6 hours behind uk) oh my god what a beautiful place! Nothing like we thought! We drove around the streets searching for a hotel, we found one called La Quienta Inn on Camp street! Not wrong by the way, didn't think the deep south would have so many camp people! Hotel is amazing with outdoor pool etc. So we got changed and went out to explore. We had thought New Orleans was this cute little town, how wrong could we be! It seems to be the party city of the deep south with everything from jazz bars, strip clubs and drag queen bars! You can drink on the street just get your drink to go. And, further entertainment is provided by the traffic tranny, check him out on YouTube, well worth seeing! So needless to say we got really drunk last night. We are booked into our hotel tonight and supposed to leave tomorrow but think we will stay another night. We'll update again soon!
