Where I stayed
What I did
XXXX Brewery Brisbane
When I arrived I meet the Night Manager on Duty, He was a tall man, who wore a baseball cap and had a dark beard, His name was Royce and yet did I no he would become my best friend in Australia.
There was two open floor decks at this hostel, At night you looked over Brisbane City and over to South Bank with the city lightening up. It was breathtaking. They also had a TV Room which played films & a decent size kitchen.
I decided to stay in Brisbane and look for employment, When looking I was told there was a position at the front desk of Chill Backpackers
The manager who owned Chill Backpackers was called Sander, There was an assistant manager called Lianne, Who was originally from Essex, London. She was sponsored for Chill Backpackers.
I worked with this other girl Sinead who was from Ireland, I grew very close to Lianne & Sinead where we went out most night to the backpackers pub Brisbane City Backpackers.
Both Chill & City Backpackers were owned by the same people, It was like one big happy family as we all grew to no each other and the pub became our local you could say.
I hung out with Royce most nights when he didn't work, We went for dinner & Generally hung out as friends.
Royce was from Canada, He spoke about how he ended up in Australia and how his plan was to return to his fruit picking job in March to make some money after living the life in Brisbane
I meet a lot of Canadian in Australia, A girl called Emily, Adam & Nathan. I grew to fall in love with Canadians as they were a lot of fun and down to earth.
Due to working at the hostel I got to attend trips around the city for free, I went to the Lone Pine Koala Centre & the XXXX Brewery.
I also meet up with Carl who I spent new year with and meet on my first trip to Brisbane.
Mostly every night I went out with new people due to working at the front desk, There was never a dull moment working at Chill Backpackers.
I became very close friends with Royce and he was speaking about leaving to head to a place called Gayndah to pick oranges, He asked if I wanted to join him. I thought fruit picking was right up my street, Even though the word with backpackers it was the devil, Again I didn't listen to what other people thought as what one person might hate the other will love.
I stayed in Brisbane from Jan- March and left with Royce in his car to head 5 hours inland Queensland.
