We escaped from Murano without buying a single piece of their famous glass. It was a pleasure to simply stroll rough the town, admire the glass shops, and look at the public displays of special artwork in the piazzas.
The glass was beautiful, but we were happy to simply browse without buying. In fact, all I bought in Venice was a 5E pair of glass earrings. What a bargain. Although---I was very, very tempted by a 2400E chandlier ($3,000 USD) with multi-colored pendants suspended on long silver arms. Besides the exchange rate, not owning a home to put it in was another good reason to avoid buying that little souvenir of our trip. Maybe on the next trip to Venice...
