Where I stayed
We spent a weekend at an Italian "agritourismo" or bed & breakfast farmstay inn, in the province of Umbria, about 4 km outside the hilltop town of Assisi. The wonderful family that operated the charming "Malvarina" inn made our stay so memorable. We cannot wait to return in late October when it's time to harvest olives from their groves and press them for fresh oil. They grow all the fruit for the fresh jam at breakfast, freshly baked breads, chicken, rabbit, and fresh produce which makes its way to the dinner table each night. The wine comes from a local producer nearby, and there are walking and horseback riding trails on the farm as well as an outdoor pool.
