At 6:00pm I left the Commodore Club to get ready for dinner. The Cunard World Club cocktail party was at 7:30 tonight so I was thankful that all I had to do was change, touch up my hair and makeup and decide on a pair of shoes. Tonight was a semi-formal evening but I ended up going more formal. Finding a tea length or cocktail length dress that does not have a defined waist or look like a muumuu had proved to be difficult so I settled for a long white column dress with pale pink belt cinched just under the chest, pink cotton shawl (to tone the look down a bit) and white heels. I also went simple with my hair opting for leaving it long with a deep side part and slightly curled at the ends. It was Big Band night so I thought a 1940's look would be appropriate. The cocktail party was well attended by all the loyal Cunard guests who had reached Gold status or above through their multiple voyages. One woman was honored for having sailed over 1000 days with Cunard. She was presented with flowers and a photo with the Captain was taken.

Tonight I had an invitation to dine with new friends in the Princess Grill but having already accepted another invitation had to turn it down. Instead I dined in the Britannia at table number 17 where I had been invited to join in by Ilene and Steven from Florida whom I had met at the Cruise Critic party. It was a delightfully lively table near a window and I enjoyed the conversations and view of the ocean immensely. I looked forward to coming back. After dinner it was back to the Queen's Room to enjoy the music of the big band era. By the time I got there the party was in full swing, literally! It was just like a scene from a 1940's night club. The band was playing, the dance floor was filled with people smiling and having a good time, people were clustered around small tables of 3 and 4 chatting away while waiters scurried about keeping everyone happy. I have always wished that I could have lived in the 40's and tonight I did. While I couldn't be Ginger Rogers out on the dance floor I enjoyed a delightful evening with a British couple that I had meet at sail away and some of their new friends from the D.C. area. It was yet another magical evening that I didn't want to end. Alas, the music ended and I needed to retire but not before grabbing a late night sandwich at King's Court. While I never ate a full meal there I used it often as a place to grab a snack during the off hours between meals and was glad it was offered. After getting ready for bed I looked over the daily program for the following day. So much to do and so little time!
