On our first night, we opted to go to the Long Beach and have dinner there. The many restaurants, bars and pubs gives you a variety of choice. We opted for Pier One at the place was large and since we have a toddler, she'd be able to play and move about.
The food was good and the beer equally so. The prices were very reasonable. I chose, "nilasing na hipon" (shrimp marinated in beer then mixed in a batter and fried crispy). It was delicious and I ate lots and drank more beer. Always a huge crowd in this place and it overflows onto the beach area.
They put out inflatable seats, tables and candles for a romantic setting for two or for a small group. Really nice and service was fast and efficient.
But, we got back to the hotel and I woke up the next morning vomitting and having an awfully painful stomach. I didn't know what caused it - but I suspected the drunk shrimps.
Panoly called for a doctor and arrived quickly. I was given an injection, some saline water to mix with normal fluids so I keep hydrated and a pill for the pain. I was out of the action for about half a day but soon felt quite better after a doze. I must recommend the young doctor who is an alumnus of the same alma mater as me, University of the Philippines. It was afterall, a Sunday and yet he made his way and did his duty. Thanks!
Still I can't blame Pier One as I truly enjoyed my dinner and would even order the same food if I would be given another chance...that's how great it was!
Be careful about water, take the bottled ones. I had my daughter vaccined against dangerous mosquito bites, bad water and common cold - so she didn't get any form of disease whatsoever. A quick trip to Paranaque Medical Hospital and an appointment with pediatrician Dr. Cecilia Calub was all it took for my daughter to get updated with all her shots and a few others to keep her from getting ill during her vacation.
