I flew Southwest, which I always love since it tends to be faster and friendlier than other airlines. Arrived in the early evening around 6 pm and took the awesome MaxRail directly from the airport to my hotel. The public transportation is amazing: easy to use, inexpensive and takes you almost anywhere in the Portland metro area. I arrived at the double tree, checked in and settled in. This hotel was phenomenal. I was upgraded to the 10th floor, huge room and many amenities. I found the staff friendly and helpful. I am a firm believer that with hotels you pay for what you get- so I don't mind paying extra for hotels like this one. It's generally worth it, and it certainly was worth it here.
After settling in, I met up with a good friend who drove down from Olympia with her friend, and another good friend, along with adorable son and husband. She was up from 'Burque visiting her hubby who works for Intel and is temporarily stationed in Portland. We ate out at Silk Vietnamese restaurant which was delicious and had fantastic atmosphere. This place is down in the Pearl district and worth a visit. I had the Duck and jasmine rice along with a recommended martini. All were mouthwatering and delicious. After this mouth-watering meal we all chatted then said our goodbyes- I retired back to my room.
