Following a restless night, we woek up this morning knowing that we had to make some fast decisions as to when and how to go about putting the boat in the water.  The previous evening, the captain of the boat had made it clear that he wanted us out of 'his' parking lot, and we did not want to create too much of a problem for anyone at the marina.
The tide was due to be high later in the afternoon, so we knew that we would have to be in the way for much of the day, but we had managed to get onto the good side of the marina manager, the interpreter from the previous evening, who liked our spirit of adventure and wanted to help us get on our trip without too much of a problem.
As soon as we were up, we started getting the boat ready for rigging.  This can be the most tedious part of having a trailerable boat, as it can take up to 3 hours to complete the job.  Dieter was the one responsible for this onerous task and I was the assistant, waiting in the shadows to be asked to pass tools and help in whatever way possible.
It wasn't long before I heard the dreaded words  "we have a problem'......
I was to learn that the 'shroud' that is used to hold up the mast had completely torn away from it's base and needed to be replaced before we could continue the task of putting up the rigging.
This was to turn into a bit of a problem, as there were no nearby marina repair shops that we could easily visit.  After many phone calls, with the help of some friendly french spearking sailors, we were to learn that the best option wold be to go to Quebec
