Today we packed up the truck; fully equipped with 3 bikes, camping gear, Peeps (Sweet Pea's nickname) and the crew.  We took the couple hour drive north to Sonoma for a day of wine tasting and exploration. We strolled down the streets of the beautiful downtown area and would dip into wine tasting rooms whenever one looked interesting. The first winery that we visited was the GlenLyon winery, which was owned by the man who had formerly been the official Ronald McDonald. As you would expect from his previous job, he had quite the sense of humor, as did his winery. There were large pictures on the wall that displayed people dressed as clowns doing comical things. The artwork was joined by multiple rubber chickens that helped to set the mood. The woman leading the tasting, the owner's wife, let us know, "There are no rules here." It was the perfect combination of a sense of humor and wonderful wine.

Later in the day we went to Envolve Wine Tasting Room. You may have heard of the winery if you are a Bachelor/Bachelorette reality TV show fan. Ben Flajnik, a former bachelor, owns this winery with a couple of his close friends. We couldn't be in Sonoma wine tasting and not stop by his wine room. While we were there we had wonderful service, great wine, and the most amazing cheese plate! One of the owners was there and we told him about our adventure. He didn't seem too impressed and then told us about some of his adventures. He had traveled nearly 50 countries and had surfed 138 couches. We then understood why our journey didn't prove to be too exciting. He shared with us the goodness of people in his experience and told us about how he traveled from country-to-country learning about wine. Sounded like a pretty amazing trip to us!

We got a suggestion from one of the guys at Envolve for a good place to grab a bite to eat. He recommended that we stop in to HopMonk Tavern for some delicious food. We walked to the restaurant and enjoyed the delicious food and seasonal beer. After our tummies were nice and full we headed to a motel a few miles down the road. The next day would be filled with biking so we needed some good rest.
